There is always time to work on another locomotive section or part.  While the Juniata employees were waiting for the temperature to rise, (minimum 60 degrees required to paint). additional parts were primered or repaired.
New stainless steel porthole frame for rear carbody door.
Bottom of rear carbody door.  Bottom six inches were renewed on account of corrosion.
The clear coat being applied.  Four coats of tuscan red finish and two clear coats will be applied to the entire unit.  Unit must be painted in sections due to its overall size.  The order for painting is roof, nose, fireman's side, engineman's side and rear.
Here you can see the colors come to "life" as the clear coat is applied.
Stripe color as compared to drift card.
