These next photographs will highlight the paint removal process.

These are  the last photos of the 4021 in Conrail paint.  

On Monday April 9, 2001.  High pressure (35,000 PSI) water jets were applied to the exterior of 4021.  The water is ordinary tap water and is environmentally safe.  No Chemicals.  The paint, primer and body filler was easily removed save for a lot of noise.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As the paint was removed evidence of previous car body repairs appeared.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The only thing remaining  was a shop floor loaded with small paint chips. All to be swept up at a later date.
